STATUTORY SERVICES

As an authorised Recognised Organisation, Mediterranean Shipping Register (MSR) performs surveying and certification activities directly relevant to the major international conventions and codes including:

  • International Convention on Load Lines
  • International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea
  • International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships
  • International Convention on Tonnage Measurement
  • International Convention on the Control of Harmful Anti-fouling
  • International Code of Safety for High-Speed Craft
  • International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code

MSR has been delegated by Flag Administrations to act on their behalf for the conduct of statutory surveys and certification in accordance with the IMO international conventions and codes, as well as with national requirements pertaining to ship safety and for the prevention of marine pollution. We also provide a range of guidance on forthcoming legislation and reducing the risk of port state control detention.

MSR is authorised to act on behalf of Flag Administrations to verify that your vessels comply with MARPOL. Our involvement ranges from initial plan approval and on-board surveys to annual and renewal surveys to ensure compliance is maintained. We are also able to issue type approval certification for marine pollution prevention equipment and sewage treatment plants.

MSR is authorised to act on behalf of Flag Administrations to verify that your vessels comply with SOLAS. Our involvement ranges from initial plan approval and on-board surveys to annual and renewal surveys to ensure compliance is maintained. We are also able to issue type approval certification for safety equipment.

MSR is authorised to act on behalf of Flag Administrations to verify that your vessels comply with the BWM Convention.

Our voluntary assessment and training services can help you prepare for the Conventions implementation and support you in assessing your compliance. The International Labour Organisation (ILO) Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC, 2006) was introduced to help ensure that all seafarers, regardless of their nationality and the flag of the ships they work on, can enjoy decent working and living conditions.

We carry out ISM certification on behalf of Flag Administrations.

We offer a full range of statutory certification services to help you maintain compliance of the ISPS Code requirements.

Carriage of liquid chemicals in bulk is covered by regulations in SOLAS Chapter VII, which invokes the IBC Code, and MARPOL Annex II - Regulations for the Control of Pollution by Noxious Liquid Substances in Bulk. MARPOL Annex II certification is also required for certain liquefied gases when carried in bulk. MSR is authorised to act on behalf of Flag Administrations to verify that your vessels comply with the applicable requirements.
